“When I was 15 or so, I came across David Hockney’s painting of pools. I love pools. I was delighted to see that pools could be considered as subjects for masterpieces. They inspired me and made me feel good.
Later on, I discovered Janet Fish’s paintings and fell in love with her colorful and bright scenes. They make me feel good too.
These painters and many others made me realize that beauty could exist in simple things. And that as one of my favorite artists Paul Klee wrote “Art does not reproduce the visible; rather, it makes visible”.
I like to observe and paint objects for their shapes and colors but also for the imaginative world that they bring up: the scenes that they can evoke, the way they become the reflection of short-lived moments…
And I want these paintings to make the observer feel good. As all the painters that I like so much made me feel good.
Because, hey, there aren’t so many occasions to feel good…”
