Welcome to OPAC, the Organization of Photorealist Artists and Collectors

These are not photos. They are oil paintings!
Photorealism is the world of art in which paintings are so skillfully done that from the other end of the room, the viewer assumes that they are seeing photographs.
Only when one stands a few feet from the artwork does one realize that it is a not a photograph, but rather an oil painting. One really cannot get the effect of these paintings on a phone or computer screen; in real life, they are truly incredible.
There’s something about photorealism. You walk into a room and see marbles on a comic book by Glenray Tutor or a case of Coke bottles by James Hollingsworth and you say, “Beautiful photos”. But as you get right up to the pieces, you realize that they are actually oil paintings and you exclaim “Holy moly: I cannot believe it. Look at the shadows. Look at the reflections on the bottles. Look at the depth of field. It’s absolutely amazing”.
Everyone has a story about the first time they approached a Duane Hanson security guard at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City and asked him where the rest rooms are. It’s an experience one never forgets.
One never tires of having these in one’s home. These pieces provide enjoyment for years. Please enjoy our celebration of the greatest photorealists.
